Top wine. Tetramythos are really kicking goals with their natur range. This is full of exotic fruits and herbal spice. Lovely grip on the palate and a wash of fresh acidity. Clean and moreish.
From The Natty Boy
Tetramythos are located in the northern part of the Peloponnese which is the Peninsula that makes up SW Greece. It’s pretty wild here, and very mountainous with vineyards planted at a number of different altitudes and aspects in this place of extremes. There is a ski resort just up the road, which illustrates how cold it can get there, and we all know how warm and sunny the Med is in summer. Their winemaking is as simple as possible, low intervention, with minimal use of sulphites. At the moment they only use the skins and everything is de-stemmed as the vines are so young. They’re really starting to make waves and it’ll be good to keep an eye on how the wines progress. This is made from Agrippiotis, known for its pronounced acidity, which spends 20 days macerating on the skins. Intensely fragrant and wild on the nose, it screams Mediterranean. Texturally it’s nice and grippy, I find there’s nothing worse than a skin contact wine that somehow lacks tannin, it’s kind of the whole point! This is supremely food friendly, we had a bottle with moussaka the other week, weird combo but it definitely worked!
