Grape: Cinsault, Grenache

Vibe: Vibey

Tonic like in terms of herbal edge and drinkability, this is one to load on. 2/3 of the ferment was carbonic, with the remainder thrown in as whole berries for extra fruity joy. It's a longer ferment for Les Fruits, and we're left with a way more savoury, complex red that'll both stand up to a full meal but also do stupidly well from the fridge if the sun allows it. Dried flowers, red cherry and a bit of old oak infused spice. Wow. ABV: 13.4%

Les Fruits’ wines are made in a selection of sheds in the Adelaide Hills region of Australia. They get their grapes from here, Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale, from organic and/or biodynamic vineyards. The Les Fruits philosophy is essentially ‘do nothing’, or at least do nothing for as long as possible until it absolutely needs to be done. In their own words, more ‘no-fi’ than ‘lo-fi’. The wines are unfined and unfiltered, with only a modest dose of sulphur at bottling. Les, the winemaker, started life as a sommelier, then segwayed into wine distribution after helping some of his friends sell their wines around town, before finally starting his own winemaking project after being inspired by his time working with small, traditional producers in France.
