Pure and succulent expression of Beaujolais, red fruited and savoury. A brilliant wine.

One of the stars of Beaujolais, Lapalu produces wines in a traditional style, reminiscent of Pinot Noir from Burgundy. All production follows organic and biodynamic principles. Such a pure and succulent expression of Beaujolais, red berries and fruits abound with a fine, savoury finish indicative of quality.

Producer: Jean-Claude Lapalu

Region/Country: Beaujolais-Villages, France

Grape/s: Gamay

Production Method: Organic farming, natural vinification and minimal sulphur additions.

Style: Bright and pure fruited with lovely structure

Pairing Suggestion: Game, poultry, vegetable dishes

Variety: Gamay

Profile: Gamay has been best known for producing fresh and fruity wines for early consumption. This is now changing, with the natural wine movement in Beaujolais, and more producers placing more emphasis on high quality production meaning Gamay has enjoyed a renaissance of sorts. Wines now show racy acidity alongside richness of fruit and clear minerality. Plantings are increasing outside of France, with producers in Australia, New Zealand and USA producing wines in a range of styles.

Classic Regions: Beaujolais, Loire Valley (France), Yarra Valley (Australia), Central Otago (New Zealand), USA
