A bit of skin contact, biodynamic fruit, whole bunches, clean juice, wild yeasts, a bit of time on the lees, bugger all SO2. A wine that screams "drink me" as soon as it's poured. Visually enticing, it just lures you in and then you're well and truly gone. Floral, stone fruited, some pear, some herbs, heaps of acid freshness, some texture. What else were you after? ABV: 13%

Judith Beck studied in Bordeaux and Chile before returning to her native Austria to take over the family winery. The estate covers 15 hectares in Gols in the Burgenland region. The farming has been biodynamic since 2007, and the focus is on native varieties, although they sprinkle in a few international ones here and there. Healthy soils are encouraged through the formation of humus, sulphur usage is minimal, and the wines are bottled unfined and unfiltered. Beck’s wines represent some of the best value in the region. Sold!
