Michel Gonet, Champagne Mesnil Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs 2015

The Gonet family have been making wine in Avize since 1802, but the modern era began with Michel in 1973, and continues with his daughter Sophie today. The family’s 40 hectares are 80% Chardonnay, the rest Pinot Noir. Though they don’t necessarily adhere to the tenets of organic or biodynamic farming, they work the soil gently and aim to promote the biodiversity of their sites. Their wines are considered among the best in the region – and when the region in question is Champagne, that’s really saying something.
