Pietracupa was founded in the nineties by Giuseppe Loffredo, and it wasn’t long before his son, Sabino, quit his job and came on board too. The vineyard in Montefredane is planted at almost 2000m altitude, with seven hectares of Fiano di Avellino, Greco di Tufo and Aglianico. The soils are clay and chalk, and their microclimate means they’re capable of producing wines slightly atypical for the usually roasting southern Italy – i.e. mineral, elegant, and profound. Nice!
