Victoria Torres Pecis, Malvasia 2019

La Palma is the most northerly of the Canary Islands and is noted for its striking altitude variations and diverse range of geological landscapes. All of this makes for the perfect place for vines to flourish! Its isolation meant that it remained vastly untouched by phylloxera that destroyed most of Europe's vineyards in the 20th century. Some vines on the island date back to 1800s! Victoria Torres Pecis is now the fifth generation of her family's winemaking legacy, and maintains 7 hectares of vineyards planted with native Canary Island grape varieties. With a focus on organic and low-intervention winemaking, the production is limited and highly sought after, and Victoria's wines achieve a level of purity and intensity that very few can match. This is the first release of wines in nearly 3 years due to drought and active eruptions. Sadly only minute quantities of these wines reach these shores but very few manage to capture terroir quite like these. Unmissable!
