Alfredo Maestro, Viña Almate 2021

Alfredo is a self-taught pioneer of natural winemaking in Spain. After studying classic winemaking from textbooks in the nineties, when there was a heavy focus on chemical additions, he decided he didn’t want any of that and started doing away with chemical intervention in his own wine. He produces wine in the Ribero del Duero, and each cuvée is a reflection of the characteristics of the land it comes from, from the soil to the entire vineyard’s ecosystem. His vines range from 20 to 127 years old and all benefit from a variety of soil types. He adds absolutely zero sulphur at any point in the process.
