Judith Beck with the goods again. We should probably all be used to that by now. Zweigelt is a crossing between Blaufränkisch and St. Laurent, which may or may not mean anything to you. Basically what we're looking for is a combo of dark fruit depth with fragrance, lift and balance. We've found it. A cracker. ABV: 12.5%

Judith Beck studied in Bordeaux and Chile before returning to her native Austria to take over the family winery. The estate covers 15 hectares in Gols in the Burgenland region. The farming has been biodynamic since 2007, and the focus is on native varieties, although they sprinkle in a few international ones here and there. Healthy soils are encouraged through the formation of humus, sulphur usage is minimal, and the wines are bottled unfined and unfiltered. Beck’s wines represent some of the best value in the region. Sold!
