The 2019 Bourgogne Côte d'Or is already showing superbly, bursting with aromas of cherries, wild berries, subtle soil tones and savory nuance. Medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, it's satiny-textured and beautifully lively, framed by powdery tannins and bright acids. As I wrote last year, this corresponds with the bottling formerly known as "La Croix Blanche," and it derives from well-situated parcels in the communes of Vosne-Romanée and Chambolle-Musigny. Domaine Cécile Tremblay are a small Burgundian estate in Morey-Saint-Denis whose star is on the rise. They produce an array of Pinot Noir from villages-level to premier cru. The domaine was founded in 2003 when Cécile took over three hectares of vineyards that had previously grown fruit to sell off to other producers. It has since grown to nine hectares, and was farmed organically and biodynamically since the beginning. Harvest is done by hand, with whole bunches being used for the top cuvées, and the wines are aged in barrel for 15-18 months.
