Domaine Bobinet, PIAK! Rouge 2023

Sébastian Bobinet began his immersion in the world of wine aged just 7, assisting his grandfather both in the vineyard and in the cellar. He is joined by Emeline Calvez, a former dancer who had to change careers due to injury. Their Domaine began in 2002 with 1.8 hectares, primarily of Cabernet Franc with a sprinkling of Chenin Blanc, and in 2010 the two added a further 2 hectares of Cabernet Franc, and also bought some Pineau d’Aunis, Gamay and Cot. Sébastian and Emeline champion improved viticultural practices in the Loire. They were integral in inciting the community to name Saumur-Champigny the first AOC in France to collectively agree on the reduction of chemical treatments. Their wines have no sulphur additions and are bottled unfined and unfiltered to maximise the aromatics and minerality characteristic of their terroir.
